EAN (European Article Number)
A European Article Number (EAN), also known as International Article Number, is a type of barcode unique to your products.
You’ll need one when selling physical products into most countries outside of North America.
It consists of 13 digits. The first three digits represent the country code, the next four digits signify the manufacturer of the product, and the final six digits represent the product code.
EAN is a type of global trade item number (GTIN). If you’re interested in the benefits EANs bring to your ecommerce brand, check out the section in our GTIN definition.
